This first episode dives into who and what is really polluting our rivers. It goes through what happens at your local sewage treatment site, and discusses all the other sources and substances. It pays special attention to otters, who as apex predators are especially vulnerable to persistent chemicals.
It features extracts from Feral Practice’s podcasts with Matt Wheeldon of Wessex Water, Helen Wakeham of the Environment Agency, Gideon Amos MP, Dr Liz Chadwick of the Cardiff Otter Project, Jo Pearse of the Somerset Otter Group, Neil Ogilvie of Somerset Council and Joanna Uglow of the Somerset Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group.
Intro music is by Timothy Johnston.
